Warning: East Side of Paleface Pass for Hikers Only!

Posted July 13, 2016 -- No update as of June 8, 2017 -- We have received feedback regarding the status of the Trans Canada Trail in the upper Silverhope Valley, on the east side of Paleface Pass between Chilliwack and Hope. The trail has become very overgrown with alders and undergrowth, making the trail very difficult for cyclists - mainly those with touring bicycles loaded with panniers or trailers. We don't particularly recommend taking this route for that type of trail user at the best of times, but until we are able to send a work party to improve conditions, we highly recommend touring cyclists use our alternate route from Chilliwack to Hope which follows the Fraser River using urban trails and roadways. Update as of Nov 14, 2016: While we have made excellent progress clearing this route on the Chilliwack Lake Side, we still have about 4 km to clear on the Silverhope side.
