f102 Abbotsford 69k Loop for FraserFEST and TCT25
- KML/KMZ files can be opened in Google Earth, and many smartphone apps.
- GPX files can be opened by most GPS software apps when KMZ cannot. Note, GPX files do not contain custom colours and icons that we use on our maps; all tracks and icons will appear the same colours and styles. We recommend using KMZ instead when possible.
- GPX-Garmin are GPX files that we have optimized for older Garmin units that only display tracks that contain 500 points or less (such as Garmin eTrex units).
Visit our GPS & Navigation page for instructions of how to use your smartphone as a GPS device (even when outside of data coverage) or how to import data to your Garmin unit.
About the Journey:
This Loop combines the popular Discovery Trail and Matsqui Trails to form a loop via the Clayburn Creek Park Trail creating a 69 kilometre journey. Of note, the Matsqui Trail and the eastern part of the Discovery Trail are on the main route of the Trans Canada Trail. Apart from bottom valley views of the coastal mountains including Mt. Baker the main features along the route are Fishtrap Creek/Ellwood Park wetlands, the Discovery Trail paved pathway, views of farmlands and the Fraser River, the Clayburn Creek Park Trail, Clayburn hritage site, the forest approaching Douglas Taylor Park, and much more. It extends one of our TCT25 Program Loops by 24k as well as adding quite a bit of roadway. It follows the Fraser River along the whole Matsqui Trail and, of course, in Glen Valley. All of it takes place on the west side of Sumas Mountain still requiring going over Mt. Lehman involving a 150m/495ft change of elevation twice.
Allow 6 to 7hours to complete this more challenging journey. Cyclists should have experienced cycling 40 km with some ease to attempt this trip.
The meeting time and place to be announced.
This is a scheduled excursion requiring you to follow these instructions and registration process.
