TOTA News Release | Kettle Valley Rail Trail Public Engagement

NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

August 15, 2018

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association is moving forward with the preparation of a master plan for the Midway (Mile 0) to Little Tunnel segment of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail. The plan is being funded in part by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.

In alignment with “Activating our Potential – A Regional Rail Trails Tourism Strategy 2016-2022” (https://bit.ly/2w395Os), the Master Plan will prescribe how the trail tread, trail amenities, and trail management can be improved to optimize the trail’s tourism potential while also enhancing the recreational experience for local users. Development of the plan is a collaborative effort involving trail users, recreational clubs, tourism operators, local and regional governments, stakeholders and local Indigenous communities along the trail.

Do you like to recreate on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail between Midway and Naramata? If so, we want to hear from you. If you are a trail user or local resident, you are invited to share your ideas and input by taking part in our Public Online Survey  (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KVRTrail) and our fun and easy to use interactive online mapping site (https://vertisee.mcelhanney.com/KVRT/).

The survey and online mapping site are intended for general trail users and members of the public who are interested in the trail. Recreational clubs, tourism operators, Indigenous communities and tenure holders will be contacted directly by the planning team to share their input.

The survey and the online mapping site will be open for public comment until 4:00 pm (PDT) on September 7, 2018.
