About the Journey

This route bypasses the more adventurous Paleface Pass route which travels through the Chilliwack River and Silver/Skagit River Valleys – and climbs over the Cascade mountain range. We recommend this bypass route for all Trans Canada Trail users from mid-October to July. Throughout the rest of the year, Paleface Pass is normally laden with snow and should only be attempted by well-prepared cross-country travelers equipped for backcountry trail riding.

GPS INFORMATION:

  • KML/KMZ files can be opened in Google Earth, and many smartphone apps.
  • GPX files can be opened by most GPS software apps when KMZ cannot. Note, GPX files do not contain custom colours and icons that we use on our maps; all tracks and icons will appear the same colour and styles. We recommend using KMZ instead of GPX if possible.

The files below include data for only this specific area. For all of our Trans Canada Trail data for the entire province (including features, campsites and alternate routes), download our BC.kmz master file (1.2 MB) Visit our GPS & Navigation page for instructions of how to use your smartphone as a GPS device (even when outside of data coverage) or how to import data to your Garmin unit.

Route Highlights:

The main features of this route takes in the Old Chilliwack City Centre and country settings along the Fraser River.  It also offers the opportunity to visit Harrison Hot Springs from Agassiz, a super tourist center (10 to 15 km one-way).  Along the north side of the Fraser the Highway passes by a few other Sto-lo Nations. As well,  views of Mt. Cheam and other peaks are quite spectacular all the way along the North side of the Fraser.
