The spur ran nearly 60 km south - some parts can still be used. The section immediately to the south towards the airport is not available to the public. Continuing over the dike immediately to the east, the KVR entered Penticton Station's various sidings. A spur to the north connected the railway to downtown, while the main line swung Northeast, en route to Naramata. Due to a missing trestle and housing developments, following this exact route is no longer possible. images/icon-2.png Penticton Station The housing developments directly to the south hide the remains of Penticton station's various sidings. About 500 metres to the west, the railway split - a spur turned north (following Highway 97's route, also named Railway St) and continued straight through the heart of the city to the lakefront not far from the location of the TCT Pavilion. The railway to the west of this point also crossed the dike (the remants of the trestle can still be seen) and continued towards Summerland. 100 metres to the east, the railway swung northeast towards Naramata. images/icon-2.png Andrew McCulluch Trestle (Mile 209.6) images/icon-2.png Popular Grove Station images/icon-2.png Arawana Station (Mile 202.2) Shelter with picnic site. images/icon-2.png Little Tunnel (Mile 196.3) images/icon-2.png Glenfir Station (Mile 192.0) images/icon-2.png Rock Ovens Regional Park images/icon-2.png Adra Tunnel images/icon-2.png 900.0 Adra Station (Mile 181.9) images/icon-2.png Pentiction Station Sub Terminus Strange as it may sound, the Penticton Station sub line that connected with the KVR terminated at this point. Most of that line is gone - and buried by the city's development - but looking at a map, Penticton's street layout provides some evidence of the railways U-shaped path through the city. images/icon-2.png Parking: Summerland East images/icon-3.png Parking: Penticton images/icon-3.png Parking: Arawana images/icon-3.png Parking: Naramata images/icon-3.png Toilet: Soorimpt Park images/icon-4.png Toilet: Penticton images/icon-4.png Toilet: Naramata South c/o Naramata Woodwackers images/icon-4.png Toilet: Naramata images/icon-4.png Toilet: Naramata North images/icon-4.png 600.0 Toilet: Glenfir images/icon-4.png 700.0 Toilet: Adra South images/icon-4.png 1100.0 Toilet: Adra North images/icon-4.png Toilet: Chute Lake Road images/icon-4.png Toilet: Chute Lake Camp images/icon-4.png Camp: Penticton Campgrounds (various) Info as of July 2019:<br>RV, car, and tent camping at various locations in this area. However, a nicer route would be to follow the former KVR rail grade from Summerland to Penticton which runs roughly parallel to this route. However, this part of the KVR is being transferred to the Penticton Indian Band and use of it would be trespassing. Therefore, we cannot encourage trail users to utilize the rail bed at this time. TCT Multi-Use: KVR (Penticton 2.7 km) The route in Penticton follows sidewalks and lakeside trails, meeting the Penticton TCT pavilion at the east end of the beach. 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 349.0 347.01 347.99 349.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 349.0 350.0 349.0 349.0 350.0 349.0 347.01 345.0 344.0 344.0 346.01 346.01 346.01 347.01 347.99 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 347.99 347.99 347.99 351.01 350.0 347.99 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 TCT Multi-Use: KVR (Penticton to Naramata 14 km) From the pavilion in Penticton, the trail heads southeast along a ravine before connecting with the railway trail, turning north, steadily climbing elevation to Naramata and beyond. 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 350.0 351.01 352.99 353.99 353.99 353.99 353.99 347.99 349.0 352.01 352.01 352.99 352.99 355.0 353.99 355.0 356.01 356.01 357.99 360.0 360.0 360.0 360.0 361.01 363.99 365.0 366.0 366.0 367.01 367.99 368.99 368.99 370.0 371.0 372.01 373.99 376.0 377.01 378.01 381.0 379.99 378.99 378.99 378.99 378.99 379.99 382.01 382.01 378.99 379.99 378.99 378.99 386.0 387.0 388.01 387.0 386.0 387.0 387.0 387.0 388.01 388.01 388.99 389.99 389.99 389.99 388.01 388.99 388.99 394.99 394.01 393.01 394.01 394.99 396.0 396.0 397.0 398.01 399.01 400.99 400.99 400.99 400.99 399.99 399.99 399.99 400.99 400.99 402.0 403.01 400.99 403.01 404.01 404.01 404.01 404.01 404.99 405.99 404.99 405.99 405.99 407.0 409.01 410.99 409.01 408.01 407.0 407.0 412.0 414.01 413.0 413.0 409.99 414.99 414.01 414.01 414.01 414.01 414.99 414.99 415.99 414.99 414.99 414.99 414.01 415.99 415.99 417.0 417.0 418.0 418.0 419.01 420.01 422.0 424.01 425.99 426.99 428.0 429.01 429.01 430.99 430.99 431.99 433.0 433.0 433.0 433.0 435.01 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 436.99 438.0 439.0 439.0 439.0 439.0 441.99 441.99 443.0 448.0 450.01 450.01 450.01 451.99 452.99 454.0 451.99 454.0 456.01 456.99 456.01 456.01 456.01 456.01 456.99 457.99 460.0 464.0 465.0 466.01 467.01 467.99 470.0 471.01 471.01 473.99 473.99 475.0 476.01 477.01 477.01 481.0 482.99 486.0 487.98 487.98 488.99 491.0 490.0 491.0 493.01 493.01 495.0 496.0 497.01 498.01 498.99 498.99 501.0 502.01 502.01 503.99 504.99 504.99 503.99 506.0 506.0 507.0 508.99 509.99 511.0 512.0 512.0 514.01 514.99 517.0 518.01 519.99 519.99 522.0 523.01 523.01 530.99 530.99 534.01 534.01 534.01 534.01 540.99 543.0 544.01 545.01 545.01 546.99 546.99 546.99 546.99 546.99 546.99 553.0 559.0 563.0 564.0 570.01 570.01 567.99 569.0 570.01 570.01 570.01 570.01 571.01 571.01 587.01 587.01 591.01 592.01 590.0 592.01 590.0 587.99 587.99 587.99 585.0 589.0 600.0 TCT Multi-Use: KVR (Naramata to Chute Lake 28 km) Important: You will almost certainly encounter motorized vehicles along the route, particularly ATVs and dirt bikes, which could be travelling at high speeds. Once the transfer is complete, agreements will be needed to permit future public use of the trail. Trails BC is working to help make this possible, and identify possible alternate routes. Currently the highway is the alternate but the Ministry of Transportation does not endorse this route. Anyone using the highway between Summerland and Penticton should take extra caution - you do so at your own risk! Note, there is nothing really stopping you from using the rail trail here... but please respect that is private property. 487.01 481.0 478.99 476.01 475.0 473.99 473.99 472.99 470.0 471.01 471.01 469.0 470.0 470.0 471.01 471.01 470.0 471.01 471.01 471.01 471.01 471.01 471.01 471.01 472.01 472.99 475.0 475.0 472.99 472.99 472.01 471.01 471.01 471.01 470.0 470.0 471.01 473.99 473.99 472.99 477.01 476.01 476.01 472.99 475.0 472.99 472.01 472.01 472.01 470.0 471.01 471.01 471.01 472.99 472.01 471.01 472.01 471.01 471.01 467.99 467.01 466.01 465.0 464.0 461.01 461.01 462.99 462.99 464.0 464.0 462.99 451.99 451.01 451.99 451.01 450.01 449.0 446.99 446.01 446.01 446.01 446.01 441.02 441.02 441.02 441.02 440.01 440.01 440.01 438.0 438.0 438.0 438.0 436.99 436.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 436.99 436.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 435.99 436.99 436.99 436.99 436.99 436.99 436.99 431.99 430.99 430.01 429.01 429.01 428.0 428.0 428.0 426.99 428.0 426.99 424.01 423.0 420.99 420.01 419.01 418.0 417.0 415.99 414.99 413.0 412.0 410.99 409.99 408.01 405.99 405.99 405.99 403.01 399.01 398.01 397.0 396.0 394.99 394.01 392.0 392.0 388.01 387.0 386.0 384.99 384.99 383.01 381.0 381.0 379.99 378.01 377.01 377.01 376.0 375.0 373.99 373.01 372.01 371.0 370.0 366.0 365.0 363.99 363.99 362.99 362.99 361.01 360.0 357.99 357.01 357.01 356.01 356.01 355.0 355.0 353.99 352.01 352.01 351.01 351.01 351.01 351.01 350.0 350.0 349.0 347.99 347.99 349.0 349.0 347.99 347.99 347.99 346.01 350.0 350.0 351.01 350.0 350.0 349.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 349.0 349.0 349.0 347.99 349.0 349.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 350.0 Alternate: Old KVR Penticton This route roughly follows the KVR's somewhat U-shaped route around the city - connecting the main railway with the lakefront and downtown core. It takes a little imagination to picture it. Alternate: Adra Tunnel This portion of the KVR is closed. The tunnel is a long-term restoration project that was underway until a major fire in June 2010 created a major safety hazard and the decision was made to seal the tunnel. Please consider donating to the Trans Canada Trail or Naramata Parks if you would like to see the restoration of this tunnel become a reality within our lifetimes!
