On February 6, 2026 the BC Ministry of Environment and Parks announced plans to decommission a 67-kilometre section of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail between Princeton and the Coquihalla Highway. The section has been closed since 2021 due to damage from heavy rain and flooding. This section is also part of the Trans Canada Trail.
Many organizations have responded to the province to try to save the Trail. Trails BC has written a letter to the Ministry of Environment and Parks on behalf of its members, linked below:
