It is 31k without the loop around Duncan. Â The actual TCT route for this leg is 28.2k needing a connector to Duncan City Center. Â This is a highly developed enjoyable trail that goes through a major bog and heritage sites. Â Close to town is the Cowichan Commons Mall, a good place to park. Â However, it really worthwhile to go into Duncan Centre to appreciate both Native and local heritage. Â The loop around town is an opportunity to follow a series of greenways that surrounds Duncan. Â There is more description of the sites on the Trails BC Website that describes the full Cowichan Valley Loop.
For more detailed descriptions go to this Trans Canada Trail section of our website. This former rail corridor includes many spectacular sites including the now famous Kinsol Trestle. Â While much of this route needs upgrading it is still very cyclable. Â For a shorter route one can skip Lake Cowichan making for a 38k ride. Â Allow a good 5 hours to do the whole route. Â You will likely want to spend extra time at the Kinsol Trestle and at Skutz Falls.

- + 5 km to the TCT Pavilion
- + 10 km forms a Cranbrook Loop (mostly greenway)
- + 28 km into Kimberley
- + 10.5 km Kimberley to Riverside Campground through the Kimberley Nature Reserve

The magenta loop shown here leading off the TCT in Cranbrook is best done as a 14 km. hike in total but it has recently been made cyclable as well.
This world-class excursion taking in Myra Canyon Provincial Park must be on everyone’s bucket list. Â It is not easy to make this into a one-way trip and, therefore, count on this being a 26 km trip to the end and back. Â It is flat but still allows a good 2.5 hours.
